The Winning Ticket

I was in a hotel with several people when a lottery drawing happened.

Someone played but didn’t win. They asked me for money to help them out, so I gave them some.

Then they asked for even more money to extend their hotel stay and I didn’t really want to give them more.

We eventually left and something happened on the highway.

Later the same person and I returned to the hotel and played the lottery together.

This time they won.

They tried to give me some of the winnings but I told them they didn’t have to. They insisted.

Suddenly a shadow appeared in the room and a group of thugs entered. They somehow knew we had won.

Something was preventing us from leaving the hotel.

We handed them the losing ticket instead of the winning one.

The tickets looked like small slips of paper, almost like fortune cookie papers.

I secretly hid the winning ticket while they believed they had the real one.

We had to negotiate with them for a while so they wouldn’t hurt us.
