THE BLUE OBJECT THEY WANTED

I found something baby sky blue. It was something important and strange looking. It was alive and pulsating, but it wasn’t human or anything from Earth.

It had no face or eyes. It had a handle and an opening. It vibrated and floated, and people were after me because of it.

I was trying to escape and drove through a sundown town. I saw men ripping the skin off people. They were wearing cowboy boots and hats. Small town country men.

Somehow they knew I had the blue object. My child was with me and getting caught was not an option. I had to evade the cops in that town because they were racist.

As soon as I crossed the city line I was in a normal large city, but the men were following me.

I got stuck in traffic on the highway and had to fight to get out. I managed to get the attention of city police and there was a shootout because one of the men had just beaten someone to death.

Other officers arrived and arrested the men. The jail looked like a mining tunnel underground but it was high-tech and the walls were glass.

I walked up to them and they kept saying they would get it. They meant the blue object I had found.

My child and I were safe, but I kept wondering what exactly it was that I had found.
