The Suite Where Everything Fell Apart

I was with a group of people, some I knew and some I didn’t, but most of them were familiar.

I was there with someone I was dating or with. He was darker-skinned like me, had Asian-like features, wore braids, and was very tall.

I noticed he was showing interest in another woman who was also dark-skinned, tall, and thin. She didn’t have as much money as I did, though no one knew how much money I had.

There was a lot going on. We were supposed to go out to dinner, find a babysitter, and meet up for a show. My parents were at some kind of birthday celebration.

I went back to the suite we were all staying in and a couple came in, a friend of mine and her boyfriend. They had been arguing all day.

They didn’t think anyone was in the room and he started hitting her, cussing at her, and then choking her.

I ran out of the bathroom yelling at him. Other friends came in and some of the men helped me get him out.

The person I was with was standing at the door with the other woman I had noticed him flirting with. They had already run off together a few times during the trip.

I told them I wasn’t going to make it to the show on time and to go without me, and they seemed very eager to leave together.

I caught them downstairs kissing and confronted them.

He told me I was too fat and that she was more his type.

I stayed calm and told them they could leave the event and never come back. I don’t know how they were going to get home because I had the tickets.

Then I went back into the room. I had either a puppy or a baby, I’m not sure, and I told everyone what had happened. Then I went into the bathroom to cry.

I woke up feeling really sad.
